Costume and Props Blog

Hey blog,

We have marked down this weekend to film! This Friday, we will meet up and start right after school. Since we will all be in one place, it will be easy for all of us to leave and start filming. Before we start filming, we have to make sure that we have all of our props and costumes together, so we have it for filming. Also, we would be leaving straight from school, I won’t be able to go home and get anything. Looking back at the storyboard, we did need a few props to film. Since we are going on a road trip in the beginning, I am planning to bring empty suitcases, so it appears that we are actually going on vacation. Props are essential to portray our characters as accurately as possible. In addition to props, the costumes that we wear when filming are equally important.

Since our characters are just like us, teen girls, this is no challenge. For costumes, we don’t have to wear anything special, just a regular outfit that we would wear every day. Except for Sarah’s character since she is the one ‘getting abducted”. We have to portray her character as young and susceptible to a kidnapping. Even though, no one can really prevent this. Sarah suggested to add sense of innocence through wearing a brightly colored striped cashmere sweater with denim shorts and bright red boots. The mismatched for this character conveys a sense of unawareness of their surroundings. This is since a kid who cannot match is not aware of how people around them dress and my character is supposed to be unaware of what is safe and what is not. Her hair will be in braids with colorful hairclips such as a bow to convey once again unjaded, childlike interests and ways of thinking. For my outfit, I was just planning on wearing simple jeans and a T-shirt. This will show a girl ready for her vacay!
